Tua Tagovailoa #13 of the Alabama Crimson Tide reacts after throwing an interception in the first half against the Tennessee Volunteers at Bryant-Denny Stadium on October 19, 2019 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.
Fourth-ranked Alabama was leading 35-7 with 3:01 left in the first half when Tagovailoa, who had surgery on a sprained right ankle almost a month ago, was injured.
Tagovailoa left right before halftime of Alabama's 38-7 win over the Bulldogs, unable to put any weight on his right leg.
There are still fears that this injury could have an impact on Tagovailoa's career and his ability to play in the NFL. He was 14 of 18 for 256 yards and two touchdown passes against Mississippi State, giving him 31 TD passes on the season.
"He is undergoing further testing to determine the best course of treatment", Dr. Lyle Cain, Alabama's orthopedic surgeon, said in a statement.
He was carted off from the field and eventually airlifted from Starkville to Birmingham for CAT scans and MRIs. "He is expected to make a full recovery but will miss the remainder of the season".
