Nine dead in Brule County, SD plane crash

A plane crash in the U.S. state of South Dakota killed nine people, including two children, and injured three others on Saturday while a winter storm warning was in place, USA media reported.
Brule County State's Attorney Theresa Maule told KELOLAND that 12 people were on the plane.
A preliminary investigation report is expected to be released within two weeks, Knudson said.
Peter Knudson, an official with the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), was quoted as saying that a Pilatus PC-12 plane with 12 people on board crashed at about 12:30 p.m.

The crash happened as major winter weather barreled through the region, FAA spokesperson Lynn Lunsford said. The Chamberlain area was under a winter storm warning and the National Weather Service said visibility was a small distance from the airport.
According to the Pilatus website, the current PC-12 model of the single-engine turboprop plane can carry no more than one pilot and 10 passengers. The Hansens were executives with Conrad & Bischoff, Kyäni and KJ's Super Stores.
Knudson told the Associated Press weather will be among several factors that the agency will investigate, but said it was too early to determine.
