The March 3 message stated that Amazon had now received confirmation that the employee has tested positive for COVID-19.
The unidentified employee was placed in quarantine after leaving work feeling ill on February 25, Amazon said.
Amazon PR did not reply to Yahoo Finance requests for comment.
A source has told The Epoch Times that the employee is not involved with the company's delivery operations. It instructs employees to stay home and seek medical attention if they have symptoms. It added that it is continuing with "enhanced deep cleaning and sanitization in the office".
Amazon also said on Sunday that two of its employees in Italy have also been infected with the virus and were under quarantine.
