The NCAA sanctions also led to USC being stripped of its 2004 BCS title, though The Associated Press still recognizes the Trojans as national champions for that season.
Now, a decade after an improper benefits scandal brought the hammer down on USC and forced his disassociation from the school, he's back. The probe determined that the 2005 Heisman Trophy victor and family members, while he was a student-athlete, accepted cash, travel expenses and a home in the San Diego area where Bush's parents lived rent-free for more than a year and with which they were provided $10,000 to furnish.
"Throughout this process, one of the consistent themes that emerged from my discussions was how much Reggie Bush means to our former players, USC alumni, and fans everywhere", USC athletic director Mike Bohn said in a statement Wednesday.
As we formerly reported, there was a significant NCAA guideline modification just recently which essentially minimized any significant disassociation to a 10- year disassociation. Bush's final year at USC included 1,740 rushing yards, 16 touchdowns and another 478 yards receiving as he won the 2005 Heisman.
After 10 years of disassociation, USC finally welcomed back Reggie Bush, lifting his ban from the university and the football program. "He's a part of the USC tradition". He also needs a statue.
Bush was selected second overall by the New Orleans Saints in the 2006 National Football League draft, and would go on to play for the Miami Dolphins, Detroit Lions, San Francisco 49ers, and the Buffalo Bills before retiring in 2017.

Trump wrote. "He has no choice, the Dems are controlled by the Radical Left". Powell endorsed Biden in an interview with CNN's Jake Tapper on Sunday.
The sanctions against USC were some of the harshest the NCAA has issued in the past 20 years, even compared to similar cases.
"To say that I don't want the Heisman back would be a lie", B ush said in an interview on "The Herd with Colin Cowherd" on FS1.
"It was a terrible feeling, one of the worst feelings in the world", Bush said in May to Bruce Feldman of The Athletic.
During the past 10 years, Bush has not been welcome on USC's campus and has not been involved with the Trojans' program in any capacity. He returned to the Los Angeles Coliseum for a Trojans game for the first time when the Fox show broadcast from inside the stadium before a Friday night contest between USC and Utah, won by the Trojans.
Bush was not recognized by the school during that game.
Part of the NCAA's sanctions against USC and Bush was him giving up his Heisman.
