Tenet will not be hitting theaters on August 12 after being removed from Warner Bros.' release schedule.
The statement also reads, "Our goals throughout this process have been to ensure the highest odds of success for our films while also being ready to support our theatre partners with new content as soon as they could safely reopen".
But the studio said it would be re-evaluating its release date "amidst all this continued uncertainty". It was initially due for release on July 17, then altered to July 31, and later on toAug 12.
His clout is reflected in the colossal $205 million budget that USA media reported was lavished on "Tenet", which stars John David Washington ("BlacKkKlansman"), Denzel Washington's son. Part of China's new coronavirus (COVID-19) health and safety measures as the country reopens movie theaters is that films playing at the theaters can't run more than two hours.
Theater chains in the USA previously announced plans to widely reopen in the summer in time for Tenet and Disney's Mulan, which as of now is scheduled to open on August 21.

Now, Warner Bros has indefinitely delayed its release - more bad news for theater owners hoping the blockbuster would help them salvage a bit of the usually lucrative season. The decisions don't yet affect two other big-budget Warner Bros. films premiering later this year, "Wonder Woman 1984" and "Dune".
The movie was delayed once again to 12 August, though with cinemas in the United Kingdom still to open fully, it's not yet known whether this date may shift too. It will now be released on June 4, 2021.
"We are not treating "Tenet" like a traditional global day-and-date release, and our upcoming marketing and distribution plans will reflect that", Emmerlich said. He also directed the three films in the so-called Dark Knight trilogy - Batman Begins, The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises.
According to Range, sources at WB have shown that the studio is going to be versatile about Tenet's release, suggesting that it likely will not have a standard rollout. Eventually, I hope we find a new normal that allows us to go back to the movies, but in the meantime, at least Warner Bros. has finally stopped just slightly pushing Tenet back.
